According to the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO), in addition to a valid passport, UK travellers may also need to show a return or onward ticket and/or proof of valid travel insurance.
You might also need to demonstrate that you have sufficient funds for your stay, with the required amount varying depending on where you are staying, reports the Liverpool Echo.
Border officials may request proof of accommodation, which could be a hotel booking or proof of address if you own a property there.
Alternatively, the Foreign Office says this may be an invitation or proof of address if staying with a third party, friends or family, such as a 'carta de invitation' completed by your hosts.
