The Guam Visitors Bureau hosted “Get to Know Guam: America’s Hidden Gem” on March 27 at The Enderun Tent in Manila.

As its first offline event since 2022, GVB brought together travel agents and associations, major media publications, celebrities, influencers and travel bloggers for an unforgettable evening of cultural immersion, insightful conversations, and the chance to win a dream getaway to Guam.

The excitement was tangible as there were close to 300 guests in attendance all eager to learn more about destination Guam.

The event kicked off with opening remarks from Guam Visitors Bureau General Manager Régine Biscoe Lee.

Her speech set the tone for the evening, inviting guests to discover the unique offerings of Guam.

“Guam is the perfect gateway to the U.S. for Filipino travelers. With our shared history, CHamoru culture, and warm hospitality, Guam will feel like your pangalawang tahanan — a home away from home — while offering the unique experience of an American destination,” she said.

A key highlight of the event was the celebrity interview, where a group of influential guest speakers shared their personal experiences about Guam.

The conversation covered everything from the island’s vibrant history to the unforgettable adventures it offers.

“I’ve been visiting Guam since 1985, and it truly feels like home. It offers the perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of the Metro,” said Dingdong Avanzado. “One of the best things about Guam, often overlooked, is the lack of traffic. And while golf is becoming more popular, Guam actually has some excellent golf courses.”

Jessa Zaragoza couldn’t help but rave about Guam’s food, saying, “I really enjoyed the delicious food, along with the warm hospitality that makes you feel welcomed and comfortable.”

Filipino actor Rocco Nacino, and his wife Melissa Gohing Nacino, also attended the event in support of GVB following their recent trip to Guam in 2024.

Following the interview, guests were immersed in a traditional CHamoru blessing (bendision), a spiritual ceremony that offered a heartfelt welcome from the people of Guam.

The blessing was a powerful moment, connecting everyone present to the island’s indigenous roots and cultural traditions.

The event continued with a presentation that highlighted the natural wonders and diverse activities Guam has to offer, including tax-free shopping and the breathtaking views of Tumon Bay.

The audience was introduced to the island’s pristine beaches, cultural landmarks, and adventure-filled experiences.

The evening concluded on an exciting note with a grand raffle, where two lucky attendees won round-trip tickets to Guam for two.

“Get to Know Guam: America’s Hidden Gem” not only showcased the island’s breathtaking beauty and rich culture but also left attendees with a renewed eagerness to explore this island haven.

With inspiring stories, captivating traditions, and a taste of Guam’s hospitality, the event highlighted why Guam is the ultimate getaway for Filipino travelers.

Marketing to the Philippines is a waste as this is a not a core market for Guam and generates very little value. Most Filipinos do not come to Guam for vacation. GVB is wasting money again and I hope GVB reads this. Why are you wasting money on a market that is almost is very small on the pie chart? Focus more on Japan, Korea, and Taiwan. It's the same old story. I hope GVB does not sent the mayors to PI for the festival. That is pure waste of money tax payers money.

Another trip wasted. Selling something that is old then old. Nothing to offer in Guam.

I have heard that it is very difficult to obtain a visitor visa for citizens of the PI? Cheaper airfare to the states along with overpriced and outdated hotel rooms, expensive food, and crime does make Guam a tough sell.

Isn't it cheaper to fly direct from Manila to a US continental destination than to fly to Guam first and then shop and dine, visit relatives -- and then fly out? Besides, there are better shops in Manila itself. Only the local cuisine would be something to shout about.
