site.btaItalian Ballet "Alice in Wonderland" to Be Performed in Sofia in October

The Italian ballet Alice in Wonderland will be performed at Hall 1 of Sofia's National Palace of Culture on October 5, the organizers said on Friday.

It is a family-oriented show created by Diego Mecchi and Gaspare Bartelloni, with choreographer and director Damiano Bisocci. It was first performed to a Romanian audience. After two years of great success and sold-out venues, the authors received an invitation from China. A major tour followed, with a new, all-Italian cast performing in 30 cities over two months. The audience in the largest theatres in China received the show with thunderous applause.

Diego Mecchi is a singer, composer, writer and poet who teaches singing and acting. His novel Jack Madness and Love was adapted into a musical which ran in Bucharest for two years. Mecchi also wrote the musical Harry. He is the author of more than 150 songs, from rock and pop to classical. His song "Polvere", a tribute to the victims of the Abruzzo earthquake, was recorded with award-winning soprano Katia Ricciarelli.

Gaspare Bartelloni has worked with orchestras in Japan and in the Italian cities of Florence and Fiesole. He has composed music for the theatre and teaches at the Bonamici School and the Santa Caterina Archbishop's Institute in Pisa.

Damiano Bisocci is a dancer, choreographer and director. He has worked for the stage shows Notre Dame de Paris, Giulietta e Romeo by Riccardo Cocciante, Tosca Amore Disperato by Lucio Dalla, and Dracula by Forneria Marconi. In 2009, the Papal Swiss Guard named him "ballet talent of the year." Bisocci has received accolades for Italian achievement abroad (2022) and best Italian choreographer at the Campidoglio in Rome (2023). He has been a jury member and a visiting lecturer at national and international festivals, and serves as artistic director of the Wladanza dance competition in Rome. Since 2023, he has worked with young talent in Bulgaria.
