CAMAGÜEY – Camagüey once again becomes the epicenter of knowledge with the 2025 Book Fair, from March 13th to 16th at the Casino Campestre Park. Among the many publishing offerings, legal literature stands out, a specialized niche that only at this event finds its greatest visibility in the province.
Yudisleydis Mestril Díaz, technical deputy director of the Provincial Directorate of Collective Law Firms, explained to Adelante that the presence of this literature at the Fair is essential for the legal sector and the public interested in law. “Collective Law Firms has an established space for our legal literature. Everything covers all branches of law, from administrative to criminal law, including the new procedural laws, which, although sold out in print at the Havana Fair, are available digitally,” he stated.
Access is available through the Ruth Tienda digital platform, linked to ONBC Editions, which expands access to specialized content. In physical format, one of the most requested books addresses commercial topics, of particular interest to new players in the Cuban economy. Among the available titles are "Commercial Companies in the Caribbean: OHADAC Model Law of Commercial Companies," by a group of authors, and "Miscellaneous Studies on Notarial Law," by Leonardo Pérez Gallardo.
THESIS COLLECTION: HIGHLY SCIENTIFIC RIGOR KNOWLEDGE
Also noteworthy is the Thesis Collection, composed of doctoral dissertations that address essential principles of law. Its topics include the prohibition of worsening the appellant's condition and urban planning aspects and cohabitation regulations. Some titles in this collection include "The Mobile Financial Lease Contract." Proposal for its Improvement in Cuba, by David Valle; The Subject in a State of Fear and the Exemption from Criminal Responsibility, by Yoruanys Suñez Tejera; and The Opportunity Principle. A Need for Cuba, by Rufina de la Caridad Hernández Rodríguez.
Another book of great interest is Innovation and Conflict Resolution: The Intersection of New Technologies, Artificial Intelligence, and Alternative Methods, by Marta Gonzalo Quiroga and Yoruanys Suñez Tejera, which explores the intersection between law and artificial intelligence and reflects the growing relevance of new technologies in the legal field.
Also featured are Law as Part of Participatory Teaching: A Dialectical and Methodological Conception for the Education of Cuban Youth, coordinated by Lissette Pérez Hernández; Cuban Urban Planning Administration: Its Patrimonial Responsibility for Titles Enabling Works and Activities, by Jorge Luis Dueñas Bejerano; and Treatise on Crimes and Punishments, by Cesare Beccaria; and A Brief History of Administrative Justice in Cuba until 1958, by Andry Mantilla Correa.
PUBLIC INTEREST AND RECEPTION
Although the legal literature is aimed at specialists, its audience ranges from law students to judges, prosecutors, and notaries. “We are Collective Law Firms, but we also impact all citizens and the legal sector in general,” said Mestril Díaz. A recurring title at the Fair is the one dedicated to the notarial studies of Dr. Leonardo Pérez Gallardo, recognized as a reference in the Cuban notarial field.
The legislative renewal in Cuba since the 2019 Constitution has generated greater interest in accessing updated norms and laws. In this context, the Book Fair becomes the key moment for consulting and acquiring these texts, since, unlike other publications, the legal literature of Ediciones ONBC does not have regular national distribution and its presence in the province is limited to this annual event.
In short, the Camagüey Book Fair is not only a meeting place for general literature, but also a unique opportunity to access specialized materials that would otherwise be difficult to obtain. For those interested in law and the country's regulatory developments, this is the perfect time to stay up-to-date and delve deeper into the most relevant legal topics.
