Lenawee has lots to offer this weekend including 5K Fun Run, spring craft show in Tecumseh

The Spring Craft and Vendor Show, hosted in Tecumseh by the city's Parks and Recreation department, will feature more than 60 booths to shop inside the AJ Smith Recreation Center, 810 N. Evans St.

LENAWEE COUNTY — There’s a touch of spring in the air, and maybe that’s because temperatures have climbed to nearly 70 degrees within recent days. We’re still technically in the late stages of winter, but don't tell that to Old Man Winter. Spring officially begins in a handful of days on Thursday, March 20.

With the coming of spring also means the arrival of some outdoor events in Lenawee County. One of the first outdoor functions to welcome the soon-to-be spring season is this weekend’s sixth annual running of the Top O’ The Mornin’ 5K Fun Run, conducted and made possible by the Greater Lenawee Chamber of Commerce.

Top O’ The Mornin’ 5K Run starts at Market on Evans in Tecumseh

TECUMSEH — While registrations were being collected over the past couple of weeks, in-person registration the morning of the run is accepted. All ages are welcome, and participants can choose to walk, jog or run the event. Strollers are welcome and pets are not allowed.

The sixth annual "Top O’ The Mornin’ 5K Fun Run," conducted and organized by the Greater Lenawee Chamber of Commerce, starts and ends at The Market on Evans near downtown Tecumseh, 213 N. Evans St. A host of local businesses and organizations make the springtime event possible.

Registration for those who are 13 or older is $30 per person. Children who are 12 or younger can participate for free. Packet pickup will be at The Market on Evans from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. the morning of the run.

A host of local businesses and organizations worked with the Greater Lenawee Chamber of Commerce this year to bring together the sixth annual run. Those businesses/organizations include Planet Fitness, Anytime Fitness, PT Link Physical Therapy, Iott Insurance Agency, Inc., TLC Community Credit Union, ProMedica, Twin Pines Eatery, Acrisure, Sieler’s Water Systems, Tecumseh Brewing Company, the city of Tecumseh and GLCC chamber ambassadors.

Spring Craft and Vendor Show to feature more than 60 booths

TECUMSEH — The Spring Craft and Vendor Show, hosted in Tecumseh by the city’s Parks and Recreation department, has been a staple event at the AJ Smith Recreation Center since 2014.

It will return for the 2025 edition from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, March 15.

“We’re excited to offer this show again this year. We look forward to seeing between 400 and 600 people that day,” Ashley Gomez-Carpenter, operations manager, said in an announcement from the city of Tecumseh.

Featuring more than 60 booths to shop, both gymnasiums inside the AJ Smith Rec Center, 810 N. Evans St., will be packed with vendors. A variety of products and unique items can be expected including one-of-a-kind finds in pottery, blankets, Tupperware, bath soaps, home baked goods and woodworking, to name a few.

Shoppers also can expect to find direct sales favorites like Pampered Chef and Color Street Nails. Local favorites like Flo’s Bakery, Red Wolf Nutrition and Girl Scout cookies from Troop 60226 also will be available.

“We have a wonderful mix of direct sales and hand-made items,” Gomez-Carpenter said. “I think everyone will find something that catches their eye.”

The Spring Craft and Vendor Show is operated entirely by Tecumseh Parks and Recreation staff.

“Everyone plays a key role in making sure this event runs smoothly and successfully,” said Gomez-Carpenter.

Visit an edition of ‘Spring Storytime’ at the Adrian District Library

ADRIAN — Saturday mornings in March are devoted to “Spring Storytime” events at the Adrian District Library in downtown Adrian, 143 E. Maumee St.

“Join us for storytime at the library,” an announcement from ADL said. “We will read books, sing songs, and do rhymes and other activities. Children of all ages are welcome, but songs and stories are selected for toddlers.”

Spring Storytime debuted March 8 and talked about "Worms." This weekend’s edition will be from 10:30 to 11 a.m. and is all about "Dogs." "Flowers" on March 22 and "Trucks" on March 29 are the remaining Spring Storytimes.

Those who can’t make a Saturday edition of storytime might be able to check out Wednesday morning "Spring Storytime" events, also from 10:30 to 11 a.m. The topics and themes are exactly the same. "Flowers" is upcoming on March 19 and "Trucks" will be March 26.

Morenci has free movie and popcorn, St. Patrick’s Family Fun Night

MORENCI — A partnership between the Morenci Downtown Development Authority (DDA) and the Historic Rex Theater in downtown Morenci will bring a community movie showing to the public starting at 4 p.m. Saturday, March 15.

There will be free admission and free popcorn to all attendees wanting to watch a screening of Disney’s “Moana 2.”

Also on Saturday, the Morenci Event Center, also in downtown, will host its third annual St. Patrick’s Family Fun Night from 1 to 6 p.m., featuring themed activities, games and prizes. Costs for attendance is $5 per child, and adult chaperones can attend at no cost.

‘So Good! The Neil Diamond Experience’ coming to Potter Center stage

JACKSON — A night of music and nostalgia will fill up Jackson College’s Potter Center when Broadway, television and film star Robert Neary brings his critically acclaimed tribute show, “So Good! The Neil Diamond Experience,” to Jackson College’s campus.

The live performance will take place starting at 7 p.m. Saturday, March 15. The Potter Center is located at 2111 Emmons Road, Jackson.

A night of music and nostalgia will fill up Jackson College’s Potter Center when Broadway, television and film star Robert Neary brings his critically acclaimed tribute show, “So Good! The Neil Diamond Experience,” to Jackson College’s campus. The live performance will take place starting at 7 p.m. Saturday, March 15.

According to an announcement from Jackson College, Neary “masterfully embodies the legendary singer, telling the stories behind some of Diamond’s most iconic songs while delivering 22 of his greatest hits, including beloved classics such as ‘Cherry Cherry,’ ‘I Am, I Said,’ ‘I’m a Believer,’ ‘Solitary Man,’ ‘Holly Holy,’ ‘Coming to America,’ and, of course, ‘Sweet Caroline.’”

American Legion Post 97 hosts SAL breakfast

ADRIAN — American Legion Post 97 in Adrian, 904 N. Main St., is hosting an all-you-can-eat breakfast buffet from 9 a.m. to noon on Sunday, March 16. The event is open to Legion members and guests.

The buffet of breakfast food includes eggs, bacon, sausage, biscuits and gravy, waffles, toast and home-fried potatoes. The cost is $9 for adults and $4 for children. The breakfast also includes a Bloody Mary bar for $5, which is only available to those who are of legal drinking age.
