The rebirth of a historic Allentown hotel continues with the opening of a new nightclub this week.

Americus Nights, located in the Americus Hotel at 555 Hamilton St., will hold a grand opening at 8 p.m. Friday, owner Albert Abdouche said, and will feature DJ Jon Gosselin, best known for the reality television show “Jon & Kate Plus 8.”

The club can hold up to 250 people and will feature a bar, a stage area and music such as jazz, disco, rock and roll and songs from the 1980s through the 2000s.

“We want people to come and stay at the hotel and enjoy their night, eat at the restaurant Windows on 6th, [and if] they need to go downstairs to the nightclub, they can enjoy it and go back to the room,” Abdouche said.

Abdouche said it will operate 8 p.m. to 2 a.m. Friday and Saturday, and that it will ideally open Thursday and Sunday in the future. Patrons should use the hotel entrance at Sixth and Hamilton streets to get in.

The Americus Hotel opened in 1927, closed in 2002 due to deteriorating conditions, and reopened for overnight stays in July 2021 following extensive renovations.

“You come to my hotel [and] it’s like an experience,” he said. “You want to live in 1927, the last century … you can have fun there and you can live like that.”
