FCB Nyasa Big Bullets have switched their attention to Zambia where they are on the verge of signing left-back Dominic Musonda, Malawi News Sport has learnt.
Bullets have a space for two players following the uncertainty surrounding want-away left-back Alick Lungu while another left-back Precious Sambani parted ways with the club on mutual agreement before the conclusion of the 2024 season.
An inside source claimed that the 23-year-old Kitwe born defender was recommended to the club by former Zambia forward Christopher Katongo.
The source alleged that Musonda, who plays for Mutondo Stars has been training with the People’s Team for a week, awaiting recommendations from head coach Peter Mponda who is tied up with commitments for the senior team.
Bullets active Chief Executive Officer Albert Chigoga confirmed that Musonda was undergoing assessment with the club but was quick to point out that no final decision has been made so far.
“On this one, I await the recommendation from the head coach and once this is done we are good to go,” Chigoga said.
One of the sources, who did not to be mentioned, claimed that the player had impressed beyond the club’s expectations.
“The boy has very good command in his defensive skills. He is a very good man maker and good both in the air and with his feet too,” the source said.
This will not be the first time for Bullets to sign a player from Zambia having previously signed players from the neighbouring country.
Bullets might not be done on the market as indications show that the team was chasing a centre back to provide competition to Kenyan Clyde Senaji.
