Tottenham Hotspur’s Cameron Carter-Vickers played against Peru this morning.
The international break has come to an end, and the United States played out one of the final games of the break as they took on Peru this morning.
The US lost 4-2 to Colombia on Friday, and were looking to bounce back against another South American side as Peru travelled to Connecticut for the friendly this morning.
It was a youthful US side fielded by interim boss Dave Sarachan, and it was one of their top young talents who score the opening goal of the game.
18-year-old Werder Bremen striker Josh Sargent opened the scoring, but Peru hit back late on as Edison Flores grabbed an equaliser to secure a 1-1 draw.
Sargent was joined in the side by fellow youngsters Timothy Weah, Jonathan Amon and Reggie Cannon, as well as Tottenham’s Cameron Carter-Vickers.
The centre back, who is currently out on loan with Swansea City, is usually seen as cover for John Brooks and Matt Miazga, but with the pair rested, Carter-Vickers was given a chance to shine.
Some feel that he was at fault for the Flores equaliser, but many fans took to Twitter to praise Carter-Vickers, claiming he was the top performer in a US shirt.
Others called the 20-year-old centre back a ‘monster’, adding that he is really starting to settle down having been nervous and unconvincing in previous international displays, with Spurs no doubt encouraged by his progress.
